"Jesse Helms is back! And this time, he's black." After winning a seat on the Winston-Salem, NC city council, Vernon Robinson had set his sights on the office of the NC Supt of Public Instruction, NC legislature, and the US House. Robinson ran campaigns that promoted 'traditional American values' and railed against Islam, LGBTQ people, feminists, Latinos, Asians, and blacks, even though Robinson is black himself. He soundly lost every election (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vernon_Robinson). This video is from his 2006 campaign against Democrat US Rep Brad Hall, after which Robinson vowed never to run for public office again. We do NOT approve this message but the ad shows the lengths some people will go to in order to win.
