"First" Communion February 2009

On Sunday, February 8, First United's "First" Communion class celebrated the culmination of their instruction in the understanding and significance of the weekly Eucharistic meal. The quotations around the word First point out that this was not an actual "first" communion for the participants, since at First United, following the invitation extended by Jesus, all are welcome to participate in the meal--none are excluded. Assisting in communion that day and receiving Bibles from the community were Sonja Chen, Elizabeth Christie, Ezekiel Johnson, Gabriel Johnson, and Sophia McDonald. Older teens who assisted and participated in the event were Gabriel Connor and Stephanie Barrow.
